Last year I was gifted the Bye Bye Blemish Drying Lotion and instantly compared it the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. They look exactly the same, but Bye Bye Blemish is half the price. Is it a perfect dupe?
I’ve used the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion in my skincare regime religiously for a few years now. Simply pop on a little bit of product to any nasty spots overnight, and by morning they’ve reduced in size and redness. The drying lotions does what it says on the tin – it dries any nasty spots helping them to reduce and heal a lot quicker than just leaving them would. With Bye Bye Blemish working exactly the same, I thought it was worth seeing if I could save a bit of money…
Is Bye Bye Blemish the perfect Mario Badescu Drying Lotion dupe?
Like Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, Bye Bye Blemish Drying Lotion is an overnight spot treatment that rapidly reduces the size and severity of pimples. With proper application, it helps minimize the risk of acne scars and keep your skin smooth and blemish-free.
The ingredients, although not identical, are very similar, with sulfur, salicylic acid and camphor featuring in both.
The way you use Bye Bye Blemish is also the same as Mario Badescu – simply dip in a cotton bud and apply directly to the blemish, leaving it to dry out overnight.
I’ve been using the Bye Bye Blemish for a month or two now, on any hormonal spots that I’ve got. And without a doubt, Bye Bye Blemish has made a substantial difference. It can’t work wonders, but neither can Mario Badescu. I’ve applied it as soon as I’ve noticed a spot coming along, and sometimes it stops it from surfacing altogether.
The only downfall of drying lotions is exactly that: they can be drying. To avoid my skin around spots getting too dry, I’ll apply moisturiser before applying, and then after washing off in the morning. Dry skin is a small price to pay for getting rid of a big old blemish though!
Honestly, Bye Bye Blemish drying lotion is a fantastic dupe for Mario Badescu’s version and going forward I’ll be buying this version and saving myself a little bit of money.
What’s your favourite skincare dupe?
