2020 is undoubtedly going to be big for me. There’s a lot going on in the world of Lucy Cole and I’m really excited for what’s to come. If you read last week’s post reflecting on 2019 you’ll know last year was a big year for personal development and change, but it seems like this year will be even more so. Take a look at my New Year’s resolutions:
New year’s resolutions: Goals, plans and dreams for 2020
Going back to education
If you told me a year or two ago that I was going to be going back into education, I’d have laughed in your face, but it looks like that’s the plan for 2020. Although I’m not technically going back to school, I’m taking up a qualification in Digital Marketing with the Institute of Data and Digital Marketing. It’ll be Level 6, equivalent to another degree, but this time taken in just 6 months rather than 3 years.
Having been in Marketing for over a year and a half now, I feel like I’m certain this is the career I’m taking. I was really lucky to fall into a marketing job off the back of a Geography degree, with very little experience other than my own blog, so I’m eager to get a proper qualification under my belt. The intensive course lasts 6 months with 2 assignments and 1 exam and truth be told, I’m a bit terrified to be going back to studying for exams and writing papers around my full-time job, but I know it’ll be worth it in the end.
Come July, I’ll hopefully have a Level 6 qualification in Digital Marketing, will have a whole lot more knowledge around everything to do with DM, and will feel a lot more confident and worthy of where I’m at with my career. Scary, but exciting stuff.

Buying our first home
Yep… we’re finally going to be homeowners! Jamie and I have been saving for years for our first home, and 2020 will hopefully be the year we buy. We’ve been together for 5 years now and have gone through 3 years of almost-freedom whilst I was at university, I think it’s time we finally moved out into a place of our own.
It’s going to be a bit manic, especially if things fall around my course, but I am SO excited to start looking and eventually creating our dream first home. Who knows, next year we’ll hopefully be celebrating our first Christmas together in our own place!
Saying yes more
In the last few years, my confidence has grown leaps and bounds. Perhaps it’s something to do with leaving university and finally having to face the ‘big world outside’, but honestly I feel like a different person to Lucy 3/4 years ago.
Sure, I still dread new experiences at first, stress about travelling somewhere new or meeting somebody I don’t know, but the difference now is I just get on with it. I want 2020 to be the year that I say yes more, to more experiences, to more things that are out of my comfort zone. I want to say yes, and worry about the possible consequences later.
Whether it be at the workplace, opportunities through blogging, or personal things, I want to be less afraid… no more saying no!
What has 2020 got in store for you? What are your New Year’s resolutions?
Lucy x
