Comfort zone

Dress - ASOS // Heels - Office

I've been a truly awful blogger lately. I've been back at home for nearly 3 weeks now but just haven't had the drive to post. I've been busy writing essays, starting my revision for summer exams and spending time with my loved ones. I hate not being able to keep consistent with my blogging but I guess that's just the way I work at the moment!

This is what I wore for a night out on campus when Jamie came up a month or two ago. It's definitely a bit more daring for me but I loved jumping out of my comfort zone and I'd love to do it a bit more often!

I'm back to uni on Friday for a fieldtrip to Devon, then have 3 more weeks of lectures before exam season officially starts. It's safe to say I'm super nervous! I can't believe my first year is almost over with!

The tie-up

Saturday, 20 February 2016

top - primark // skirt - asos // shoes - office

The tie-up trend has definitely been a favourite of mine this autumn/winter, and I'm excited to see it continue into spring/summer. Primark has been my favourite shop as a student, and I loved this top so much that I got it in a second colour too! Their homeware is looking so gorgeous right now, I can't wait to spend some money on it for some goodies for my new room next year! We're signing for our house today, I can't wait. Posts may be a bit sparse in the next week, it always seems with my course you're free from work for weeks then all of a sudden everything comes at once! My deadlines are all in the upcoming week so I won't be quiet for long!

five product face

Wednesday, 17 February 2016

Being a uni student, I am one hundred times more in love with my bed than I should be. There are actual feelings there. This love means sometimes, my personal appearance is slightly neglected and my usual one hour to get ready is cut short. That's where the five product face comes along..

the £19.99 backpack

Bag - La Moda

I'm definitely a backpack-over-handbag kind of girl, throughout high school I suffered with my unpractical handbag.. having so much stuff but so little room you have to have a suitable highstreet clothing shop plastic bag (Hollister was always a keen favourite in my school) or walking home to a strap breaking from the sheer weight of all those books. In year 11 I ended my suffering by buying a rucksack, and I've been a fan ever since.

This Christmas I decided it was time to purchase another backpack which I could use at uni. After pondering on a few websites I chose this one from La Moda, and I can't praise it enough. Although a gift, at £19.99 it's ridiculously inexpensive, it's the perfect size for all my books and also has plenty of nifty little pockets inside to hide my keys and phone - there is nothing worse than rooting in the bottom of your bag for them! It does have a slight bit of wear and tear on it, but I'm willing to overlook that. I'd never purchased from La Moda before, but after this experience, and by the looks of all their beautiful backpacks they have online, I'm definitely keen to purchase again!!

The Topshop wishlist

Saturday, 13 February 2016

Online browsing is dangerous, but even more so when you're a student. Morning lectures leave me with whole afternoons of boredom, leading to me gawping at clothes, shoes and accessories which I can't have. Topshop has always been a favourite of mine - the prices are sometimes a bit steep but you can't fault them for their fashion! I had a look at the new in page and picked a few of my favourite. The khaki obsession has made another appearance in the block coloured top, but a few different pieces are in there too like the super funky holographic clutch which would be perfect for my nights out at uni!

My skincare holy grails

Thursday, 11 February 2016

I've always struggled with my skin having frequent breakouts ever since I reached my teens, and subsequently have always been very conscious of it. I have tried every skincare treatment under the sun from vigorous scrubs to homemade remedies. I feel now like my skin is the best it's been in a while and other than age and 'growing out of it' it's down to my current skincare routine.

I went to the doctors a year or so ago and was prescribed a gel called Epiduo for acne. It took a while for my skin to get used to it, it made my skin really dry and sore originally but now it works wonders. The idea is to place the gel on any breakouts every night to help them clear up, and I've found although it doesn't make those pesky spots disappear immediately, it definitely helps them clear up sooner, or if I'm super speedy I can get rid of those dreaded under the skin spots before they surface! Epiduo is the only spot treatment I use, and for the rest of my routine, I strip it right back using Cetaphil's cleanser and moisturiser/moisturising lotion.

Cetaphil is for sensitive skin being soap and fragrance-free and I find that's just what I need. I hate the thought of rubbing lots of nasty chemicals all over my face.

For makeup removing, I'm a big fan of Garnier's micellar water and have repurchased it many times. A couple of pads does the job brilliantly, and any extra makeup left over is soon taken off with cetaphils cleanser.

I think, especially being a blogger, it's very easy to get caught up in a big extravagant skincare routine which involves lots of steps with lots of different products, and while I have no doubt it works for some, sometimes I think less is more. I've found a very simple non-time-consuming routine and my skin is loving me for it. What's your go to skincare routine? Do you have any holy grail products?
