With working from home becoming the new norm for a lot of people (myself included), today I’ve decided to share my daily work from home routine.
Personally, I’m totally nosey and love finding out what people get up to in their day to day routines, so here’s mine, working as an Assistant Social Manager for a B2B brand.
My daily working from home routine
7am alarm: wake up
Despite having way more time in the mornings since working from home, I still enjoy getting up early. Giving myself that hour or two in the morning to wake up slowly, enjoy my breakfast in front of the telly and relax really sets me up for the day.
I generally don’t bother with make-up since working from home, so I’ll do my morning skincare routine, have some cereal, do my hair and chuck on some comfy but not PJ-comfy clothes for the day.
8:30am-12:30pm: work
I’ll usually grab myself a morning cup of tea and set up at my desk for the day of work. My day-to-day work can differ working in social media. Usually I’ll start the day by picking up any queries from the night before and passing them to our customer services teams, checking our social schedule is looking good for the day, and catching up on emails.
Throughout the morning I’ll probably make 2 or 3 more cup of teas (vital for productivity in the Cole household), and ensure I get a few breaks away from my desk.
12:30pm-1:30pm: lunch
The most important hour of the day. I tend to take my lunch break around 12:30pm-1pm, or whenever my stomach starts to rumble. For me, my favourite lunch snack is a toasted bagel, some fruit and a little sweet treat. My hour lunch break is usually spent on the sofa catching up on Say Yes to the Dress and watching Tik Toks. Adulting at it’s finest.
1:30pm-5pm: back to work
Then comes the afternoon session of work. I find I can sometimes get in a bit of a slump in the afternoon, so try to save the more ‘stimulating’ tasks for the afternoon. I might have a few calls, I might be writing up some new content, or putting together a strategy for a new social campaign coming up. At 5pm I’ll shut down the computer and finish for the day.
5pm-6pm: exercise
Since lockdown, I’ve really appreciated that little bit of exercise every day. Again, this varies a lot. Some days it’ll be a 30-45 minute YouTube workout, other days it’ll be a gentle stroll with mum, and occasionally (very occasionally), I’ll head out for a run.
6pm-10pm: tea and wind down
Then we get to arguably the best part of the day. After my evening exercise, I’ll fill my stomach with whatever scrumptious meals been cooked for me, have a shower and get in my jammies for the night. An evening on the sofa watching some good telly with the family gets me prepared for bed and ready for a new day tomorrow!
What does your working routine look like?
