Recently, the new Pixi Hydrating Milky range landed on my doorstep in quite possibly the coolest PR package to date. Take a look at the cardboard milk cartons that the range arrived in!
It doesn’t take a genius to know that I’m a big fan of Pixi products, most notably their skincare, having loved their Vitamin C range, and their Glow kit. So, I was excited to get the new Hydrating Milky range a try!
Pixi’s Hydrating Milky Range
The collection is actually made up of 9 products, however, in this PR package they sent out 6 to make up the ultimate hydrating skincare routine.
Step 1 is make-up removal, with the Hydrating Milk Make-up Remover. This £24 make-up remover comes with a handy pump-lid making it super easy to soak a cotton pad in product and remove the day’s makeup. Infused with coconut extracts and probiotics, these work to add moisture and a balancing effect on your skin. Meanwhile, willow bark extract gently tones, and cinnamon extract provides anti-inflammatory benefits.
I loved the scent of this remover, the pump makes it super easy to get the right amount of product out, and it lived up to my Bioderma and Garnier micellar waters.
Step 2 is the Pixi Hydrating Milk Cleanser, a daily cleanser that provides extra hydration. Like the make-up remover, this also contains coconut, willow bark and cinnamon extracts, as well as probiotics to help nourish, protect and balance the skin. Additional jojoba esters help moisturise and re-hydrate the skin.
I really loved how thick this cleanser was – I’ve used cleaners from Pixi in the past which have felt too runny, but this was the perfect consistency to make my skin feel like it was getting a nourishing clean.
The treatment, and step 3, in this routine is the Hydrating Milky Peel. This is a gentle micro-peeling cream that clears away dead skin cells in order to delicately brighten your complexion. Ingredients like arginine are included to encourage collagen and elastin production plus its antioxidant benefits. Leave this on for 2-3 minutes, and gently massage off with water, this is a treatment you can use daily or as often as needed.
I’m a big fan of the Pixi Peel and Polish, and this is a slightly gentler version which I can see becoming a firm favourite of mine.
Step 4? Tone. The Milky Tonic should be used AM and PM to rehydrate, nourish and relax. Infused with oat extract, this tonic helps soothe and balance the skin.
I can sometimes find tonics to be a little drying, so introducing the Milky Tonic might help combat this problem.
The Hydrating Milky Serum is step 5, a nutrient-rich serum to restore dehydrated skin, revealing its natural radiance. Rose flower extract, jojoba oil, and aloe vera act to nourish, while glycerin traps moisture to the skin for a plumped effect.
For me, this serum felt lovely on the skin, but it was almost too thick to be a serum. I found the pipette struggled to squeeze up any product, so it was easier to just pour a little on my hand instead.
The final step, step 6, is to moisturise with the (yep you guessed it) Hydrating Milky Lotion. This is a multi-use moisturiser for both the face and body, designed to deliver instantly improved moisture as well as long-term hydration. With ingredients like shea butter, sweet almond extract and coconut oil, this is a deeply hydrating formula.
