If you’re anywhere in the UK, you’ve probably experienced the sweltering temperatures we’ve had this summer. And with the sun, comes sweaty, shiny skin. This year I decided to finally invest in a powder foundation from Bare Minerals. As someone who struggles with shine quite often, I opted for the Matte Foundation with SPF 15 in hope that it could give me the coverage I needed, as well as keeping that shine at bay.
Keep reading to see how I’ve got on.
The matte foundation you need for Summer
What really drew me to the Bare Minerals Matte Foundation were the promises of keeping the skin matte, while also being super lightweight on the skin. Nobody enjoys walking around in the peak of summer with heavy foundation on the skin, so this seemed ideal.
I was worried that because Bare Minerals Matte Foundation is a powder, I’d struggle to get that coverage that my favourite liquid foundations give off so well. I also wasn’t sure how it’d work with blemishes – whether it could be mixed with liquid concealer and weather it would cling to certain patches.
I needn’t have worried though.. this foundation is incredible. On not-so-great skin days I’m able to apply a little bit of concealer on blemishes, and I’ll always use a little bit on my under eyes, and the powder applies flawlessly and evenly.
I don’t think you’ll ever be able to get the same level of coverage that you’d get with a liquid foundation, but the ability to mix liquid concealers and this foundation on makes it a real game changer in my eyes. It’s so easy to achieve the coverage you’re after without caking on layers of liquid product.
In terms of shine, this is the best product I’ve found so far at keeping oil levels down throughout the day. I could probably do with a top up or two throughout the day, but it feels so much more comfortable on the skin, and not like liquid foundation does when it slides off in the heat.
Although I’d always recommend adding SPF in your daily moisturising routine, it’s a bit of a bonus to have SPF in this foundation too. No complaints here!
Overall, I’m really pleased with the Bare Minerals Matte Foundation and have definitely converted to loose powder for my day-to-day makeup.
Are you a liquid or a powder foundation fan?
