As a young girl, I had terrible teeth – they were horribly wonky as soon as my adult teeth grew through and affected my confidence in my teens a lot. That was, until I got braces when I was 14. My braces completely transformed my teeth, helping my least favourite part of me – my smile – to be my favourite. And my smile today is still one of my favourite parts of me, just now, instead of wishing my teeth were straighter, I wish they were whiter. Last month I received a Smile Science Harley Street Professional Whitening Kit to give a whirl.

According to Smile Science, this will attain long lasting results without any tooth sensitivity issues associated with other peroxide based bleaching kits.
Smile Science Harley Street Professional Whitening Kit: My Review
The Smile Science Professional Teeth Whitening Kit usually costs £29.99. Inside the kit you get a mouth piece and light, a pre-stain remover, and 2 syringes of whitening agent to last you 10 days worth of treatment.
The treatment process is fairly simple. First, you scrub your teeth with the pre-stain remover formula. This comes in a tube with a little doe foot applicator. I was expecting a gel-like texture, but it’s actually a lot thinner than that and reminds me of a mouth wash. Because of this, I’m not actually too sure what difference this makes.
Next is the treatment – you use the syringe of whitening agent to put 0.5ml on each side of the mouth guard – for your top and bottom teeth. Once the guard is covered in treatment you pop it in your mouth, switch the LED accelerator light on and leave it in for 15 minutes, Once your 15 minutes is up, they advise no eating or drinking for a further 15 minutes. You should do this for 10 consecutive days to see a difference in your teeth.
Did it work?
The golden question… did it work?! I followed the above process for 10 days (missing just one day in the whole process), so I’d like to think I did enough to see some results.
You can see the results above. After the 10 days of treatment I think there was a slight difference in the brightness of my teeth, but for results to be really visible, I’d imagine this would have to be a much longer treatment. And most likely be one you’d keep up consistently – perhaps every other day for a good month or two.
I did enjoy it, and can definitely see how it could make a big difference, but personally, it’s just a bit too much faff for me. If I was really desperate to whiten my teeth, I’d probably be more likely to pay the price to do it professionally. That said, I do think the Smile Science Harley Street Professional Teeth Whitening Kit is worth considering before any more drastic (and expensive) routes!
