I think everybody I know (in the content creator space, at least) has a love-hate relationship with Instagram. It’s that social network that seems to be the one none of us has quite yet cracked. Or perhaps we had cracked it but it’s since had 247 algorithm changes, 134 ‘bans’ and 25 new features added, putting us back to square one. Despite that, for many, whether you’re running a small business, or you’re a content creator, Instagram is pretty vital. And having an engaged audience on there is even more so.
Girls in Marketing recently reached out to me offering if I’d like to give their new eCourse – Instagram growth and scalability – a try. I couldn’t say no to some new insight and guidance so I’ve spent a few weeks completing the course, take a look at how I’ve found it below.
Growing your Instagram with Girls in Marketing
How to grow and scale your Instagram account (on a budget!) – Organic strategies that work is a 6-module online course that can be completed in your own time. It’s designed for small businesses or influencers that want to build their brand on a limited budget.
Costing £34.99, this online course has 6 modules including everything from the foundations to a successful Instagram account, how to get likes, grow and engage, and most importantly, how to scale and build a community on Instagram.
I completed the course over a few weeks, picking it up in the spare time I had over my free evenings and weekends. You can expect to spend a minimum of 6 hours on this – an hour for each module – or more, depending on how much you want to get involved with it.
I found the course easy to follow with a natural flow, starting with the basics: what’s the course, and what it’s about and a jargon buster on all things Instagram. You’re then taken through everything there is to know about Instagram as a platform. Having worked in marketing for 3 years, and being a content creator for almost 10, I felt like a lot of the content I already knew, so I’d suggest only opting for this course if you’re new to social media/Instagram or are looking on refreshing your knowledge.
The course does a great job of covering all aspects of running an Instagram account, with some brilliant tips. At times I felt that it was more suited to those looking to use social media for business reasons, as opposed to those looking to grow their personal brand. But with many more influencers looking at their personal brand as their business nowadays, it is necessary to switch to this change in thinking.
I felt engaged throughout with a mix of reading, worksheets to complete, handy templates to keep hold of, as well as 2 videos. You’ve also got 3 quizzes to check your knowledge of each module which was a nice little prod to make sure I’d really taken in everything in.
Overall, I felt like the course covered every aspect a small business or aspiring content creator needs to know about Instagram. Despite being in the social media industry for 8+ years now, it still managed to teach me new things and left me feeling inspired to put that extra effort into my Instagram game.
