One of my favourite parts of Autumn fashion is layering. There’s something great about piling on item upon item and ending up not only with a cracking outfit, but feeling super cosy too. And this year, there’s a new layering kid on the block: the knitted sweater vest.
I was a bit sceptical of the knitted sweater vest at first – I picked up the *it* vest from H&M back in September but just couldn’t work out how to style it. Then along came a completely fresh and new style from Zara. Not so neutral and basic like the majority on the high street today, but fun and colourful instead. I mean, we all know I’m a bit of a sucker for colourful fashion.
I’ve styled it here on it’s own in all it’s glory, but the beauty of knitted sweater vests is that they’re the ideal piece for layering. Whether it’s a t-shirt, or a roll-neck underneath, the sweater vest looks great as we move into the colder months and those extra layers are a must.

If you’re new to the trend and want something a bit more basic, then the monki pullover vest is a safe bet – easy to layer with a white tee or shirt. I remember the houndstooth sweater came into style in Autumn of 2019 but didn’t really hit off until this year. It’d be the ideal piece for a monochrome look if that’s more your style.
Whatever style you go for, it’s clear the knitted swearer vest is a trend thats here to stay throughout A/W 2020.
