With wearing masks on the daily the new norm, lips are out, and brows are in. There’s no denying that my eyebrows went a bit AWOL on lockdown, but now we’re back out and about, they’ve been hacked away at with some tweezers and I’ve got some new holy grail products I’m using on them.
Benefit Cosmetics are pretty well known for their eyebrow products. I’m surprised it’s taken this long for me to get my hands on anything, but I haven’t been disappointed with the Microfilling Pen and Gimme Brow Gel.
The Benefit Cosmetics Eyebrow duo
The holy grail of my brow routine is the Benefit Cosmetics Microfilling Brow Pen. The pen – made of 3 prongs – helps to create the illusion of natural brow hair, blending with existing hairs to fill in the gaps. The 3-tips, as opposed to one, make the application quick and easy.
I picked up the Microfilling Brow Pen in the colour light brown and it’s the ideal product, blending with my natural brow colour giving me fuller looking brows, as well as looking natural and being totally smudge proof throughout the day.
The only problem I have found with this pen is it doesn’t work quite so well after applying foundation. I usually like to start with my base make-up, but I’d definitely recommend starting with brows if you’re using the Microfilling brow pen just because it can often pick up a bit of foundation on its prongs which can reduce how much of the product comes out.
The Microfilling Pen comes in 4 shades and costs a reasonable £22.50, though I haven’t been using it long enough yet to tell you how long one pen lasts me.
To complete my brows, I use the Benefit Cosmetics (they’re clearly nailing their brow products) Gimme Brow Volumizing Brow Gel. As well as giving my brows that extra oomph, this gel helps to keep my brows held in place throughout the day. If I’m feeling super lazy with a minimal make-up day, skipping the microfilling pen and going straight in with this gel does the trick perfectly.
Benefit’s Gimme Brow Volumizing Brow Gel is also £22.50, or £12 for the travel size.
