REVIEW: SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL

Monday, 22 December 2014

*play dramatic music* it's time.. the review of the holy product of the blogosphere, the soleil tan de chanel. My wonderful friends bought this for me back in the Summer and for weeks I was petrified of ruining it and using it up! I will forever be afraid of my favourite (and expensive) products running out. However, I have since used it and ruined the beautiful smooth whipped top and have been reaching for it a lot more often now the colds kicked in. I apply this after my foundation with a buffing brush and gently buff it into my cheeks to give a bit of warmth and colour. It blends with ease and isn't too orange nor too dark for my skin shade. In terms of lasting it seems to last just as long as my foundation, ideal for day to day wear. I've really been impressed with it and despite it breaking the bank at £32 I think it's a perfect 'treat yourself' gift for every woman out there!

COAT - PRIMARK // SHIRT - TOPSHOP // LEGGINS - H&M // BAG* - OASAP // BOOTS - NEW LOOK
I have a horrible feeling that oversized checkered shirts are soon going to become my next obsession. This one from Topshop is perfect, it's so comfy and the perfect length - I love chucking it on over some leggins for slouchy days.

Little Black Dress

DRESS* - BLUE VANILLA // HEELS - PRIMARK // BAG - MISSGUIDED

Blue Vanilla have spoilt me rotten recently. Last week I recieved this beauty in the post. Every woman needs at least one little black dress in their life. This has the perfect amount of sparkle and I love the little cut out in the neck/chest! I'm also still living in these primark heels for parties, they're so comfortable and easy to wear, I wish I had bought another pair for when one day I ruin them with drunken antics, and trust me, that's bound to happen soon!

P.S Happy Halloween!

DRESS - BLUE VANILLA* // COAT - RIVER ISLAND // SHOES - TOPSHOP

Sorry about the lack of posts.. life is catching up on me! There's a lot of things to worry about at the moment with Uni Applications going in along with A Level work and lots of other bits and bobs. Although, amongst all the stress I finally moved into my brothers old room! I am sat writing this now at my new fancy ikea dressing table/desk.. It feels so good to have my own space finally, and a double bed!! I'll be sure to do a room tour as soon as I'm 100% happy with everything!

On to the outfit, say hello to my new winter coat! I bought it from River Island using the handy 20% off for students so bagged a cheeky saving. I was also sent this dress from a brand I hadn't heard of previously - Blue Vanillla. It's super pretty, and a lovely material too so perfect for when I feel like a dress day for Sixth Form but want to be comfy!

TOP - TOPSHOP // SKIRT - MOTEL@ASOS // BAG*LYDC // NECKLACE* - LEAH MCURDOCK

I loooove this skirt. I have something with paisley/bandanna print for sure, and I love a-line fit skirts too right now. Big up ASOS with this skirt, I wore it this day and found a hole in it after just an hour or two in, and they sorted it out brilliantly for me and sent me a new one! I kindly recieved this bag from LYDC last week, and it's the ideal bag for popping out somewhere with it's multiple apartments and long strap! I also got sent some super adorable jewellery from a twitter friend a while back, this necklace being one of the pieces.

All these new autumn pieces are soon to destroy my bank account. I think Autumn trends are going to be my favourite of this year, I just adore layering and all the warm tones, I'm especially loving this fur jacket.. how perfect?!

CROP TOP & JEANS - TOPSHOP // KIMONO - H&M // NECKLACE - EBAY // SHOES - PRIMARK

I'm desperately holding onto the summer now. As much as I adore jumpers and layering, I don't want to say goodbye to my beloved kimono!! I found these super cute shoes from Primark for a bargain £8 and I couldn't be happier, apart from the fact I was missing half of my heels skin after I walked to school in them. Bad choice. Thank goodness for brilliant mothers who come to your rescue and pick you up after your lessons so you don't have to hobble home in even more pain! I definitely should have realised it's impossible to get shoes for that good of a price without any pain! All is good now, I have learnt my lesson and I now carry plasters with me all the time!

TOP - NEW LOOK // JEANS - TOPSHOP // CONVERSE - OFFICE

Sixth form is always calling for comfy and casual outfits and this look ticks every box. I love the monchrome look of it, but the little bit of yellow in the tee makes it that tiny bit more exciting! You'll also notice from this and my last post I've been wearing winged eyeliner a lot, now that I have (almost) mastered the art of liner after years of practice! Although, I'm currently using Soap and Glory's Supercat Liner and the lasting power is so poor I end up with it all over my lids after a few hours. Do you guys suggest any good eyeliners?

wishlist: duster coats

Wednesday, 17 September 2014

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

The blogosphere has played it's tricks on me once again. This time, I'm lusting after a duster coat. I can tell they'd be the perfect transitional piece into Autumn, as a nice little cover up thats not quite a coat but warmer than a kimono. You can also see that I am certainly in a monochrome mood, and if it's not black and white it is extreme bright colour. What do you think of my picks?

Leather

Monday, 15 September 2014

T-SHIRT - TOPSHOP // SKIRT - H&M // CONVERSE - OFFICE

I have a feeling this autumn/winter I am going to have a long. ridiculous obsession with leather skirts.. I loved my skort style one from h&m last year and when I found this one in London a few weeks back in h&m too I knew I needed it in my wardrobe! My next task is to get a quilted one! I made this look a little more grungy and paired my oversized denim jacket with it but stupidly didn't take any photos of that!

JUMPSUIT - NEW LOOK // CONVERSE OFFICE // CARDIGAN - H&M

I may have featured this jumpsuit on my blog only a few posts ago, but I was excited to style it down for sixth form. I rolled up the bottom and chucked on my converse and a cardigan for an easy day to day wear. I wish I had a cropped leather jacket right now because I can just imagine how great that would look with this!

Not the only one

CAMI - DOROTHY PERKINS // SKIRT - TOPSHOP // CARDIGAN - H&M

That heartbreaking moment when you realise only one of the 20+ photos you took is in a decent enough focus. I really can't get the hang of my DSLR, despite using it to blog for  a year or two now, I need my own personal photographer who not only knows about big chunky cameras but also takes good shots. Any takers? I will pay in cups of teas and cookies?

This is what I wore on Thursday for my first day back at sixth form. I wanted to look like I'd made an effort seeing as in a week or so I'll give up completely and be arriving in sweatpants every day. That's one thing I love about sixth form - you can wear trackies and leggings for the whole week and not give a sh*t! Anyway, I settled for a simple cami, cardi, skater skirt and my trusty converse.

Haul: New Look

Friday, 5 September 2014

Now that I'm a working woman with a flow of money into my bank account I've found myself internet shopping a lot more. And the problem I have is that I can't buy just one or two items. For example, in this order I spent originally £300 on 20+ items. Somebody needs to lock my bank card up and throw away the key. Although, thankfully for my allowance I do always intend on sending the majority back. Does anyone else do this or am I just awful at making decisions and cutting down those 30 items in my basket to 10?!

Anyway, thankfully I was disappointed with most of my order so I ended up buying just these 7 items. The boots featured on my Autumn Wishlist and I know they're not going to come off my feet throughout autumn, I've been after a few dresses which I can wear in the winter with some tights and boots and both of these checked numbers will be ideal! Finally, I fell into the monochrome trap and got 3 tops too. I love the floral one with the hint of neon yellow in it and the ribbed neck gives it a sport luxe vibe.

You'll also notice that I've had a bit of a blog make-over! I've got a new design as well as a domain - you'll now find me at lucy-cole.co.uk rather than lucycole.blogspot.com! What do you think?

Autumn wishlist

Tuesday, 2 September 2014

Summer seems to well and truly gone here in the UK, the colder nights and rainy days have got me crawling the internet for my autumn/winter wardrobe. As much as I adore summer sun, there's something about winter, layering the clothing and snuggling up by the fire with a hot chocolate, it's hard to beat! This year I'm on the hunt for a new super cosy coat and this parka from River Island looks ideal. I'm also lusting for a duster coat at the moment for the transition into autumn while it's not quite warm enough for a coat and this monochrome number is ideal.

What are you most excited for this autumn/winter?

The White Jeans

Saturday, 30 August 2014

JEANS - TOPSHOP // CROP TOP - RIVER ISLAND // KIMONO - H&M // HEELS - ASOS // CLUTCH - MISSGUIDED // WATCH - EBAY

I'm back! I apologise for my disappearance in the past few months or so, but I found myself stuck with a lack of creativity and motivation to blog! But I'm back! I've since had my hair cut short, which I love, but I can't decide whether I prefer my long or short hair, what do you think? I'm also soon to be moving into my brothers old room, which means plenty of ikea and home decor shopping, I am SO excited! It's going to be a lot of fun having a bigger room where I can have my own dressing table and desk! It'll also make taking photos for blog posts a lot easier, hence why I've decided to come back to the blogosphere!

I love wearing white jeans but they're SO risky! I fear sitting down anywhere or eating or drinking in case something stains them! Although I was brave on Friday night and wore them for a lovely meal with my netball team. I paired it with this pretty pink kimono and black crop top seeing as I don't think any of this outfit will get much more wear this year.. the English summer has disappeared!

I still love

Jumpsuit - New Look // Heels - Primark

I wore this to my best friends birthday party last Saturday. I found it in New Look a few weeks back and I couldn't resist it, costing just £23 which I thought was so reasonable! I am in love with the palm tree print this summer and the monochrome makes it so easy to wear. I went for bright red nails and I know if I could get away with it, I would totally wear bold red lips too. It's one of those pieces of clothing that doesn't need any accessorizing like a pretty necklace, it works perfectly alone. I also can't wait to style it down for a more day look too! What do you think?

Chi Chi Harriet Dress* - ChiChi // Heels - Primark

I am so in love with this ChiChi dress, and I wish I had a prom to wear it to! Prom season recently began and I am sat on my facebook homepage stalking friends of friends photos purely to drool over gorgeous dresses! Being year 12, we don't have a prom at the end of the year, which sucks! At our school and sixth form the big prom is year 11, this is where you pull all the stocks out! Then there's a slightly more casual one at the end of year 13 which I'm super excited for. This dress is just so pretty, I love the lace detailing and sweetheart neckline (ooh look at that fancy dress term - someones been watching too much say yes to the dress on TLC!)

Field of flowers

Monday, 23 June 2014

Dress* - Sugarhill Boutique // Bag - Primark // Sandals - Next

When I wear this dress from Sugarhill Boutique, I feel like I should be having a picnic in a big field of flowers somewhere. I love the off the shoulder style of dresses, although I definitely could have done with ironing this first! I'm still debating over this peachy colour on me, I feel like it doesn't quite suite my skin tone, but it is gorgeous nonetheless.

In other news, on Friday I finally got the call I'd been waiting for for almost a year now! After endless failed interviews, I've finally bagged myself a job! I am so happy to finally be earning money for myself and hopefully it'll help my confidence grow too!

Got you figured out

Cardigan - H&M // Top - Primark // Jeans & Shoes - Topshop // Bag* - LYDC

Where has the sunshine gone?! It was absolutely gorgeous last week, but the sun seems to have disappeared and left us with clouds, muggyness and that not-quite-hot-enough but not-quite-cold-enough weather! I've lived in my jeans for sixth form this week, I'm desperate to get my summer clothes on! I also received this bag last week, and it was just in time. I'm fed up of my backpack for school and was after a new bag which was an ideal size. My Zara office city bag, although beautiful, broke after only a few months and was also surprisingly unpractical! This bag from LYDC is literally the perfect size - there's enough space for some books, a folder, a lunch and a few other necessities! I am head over heels for it!

I also need some help from you technology geeks - how can I avoid losing the quality of my photos when cropping and stitching them together?!

Birthday Celebrations

Wednesday, 18 June 2014

Extremely sorry for the picture-heavy post, I'm just eager to show you guys everything! On Saturday, I finally celebrated my 17th birthday with all of my bestest girlfriends..
 ME: Dress - H&M // Heels - Primark || ALICE: Playsuit & Necklace - Primark // Heels - Topshop

Of course, an OOTN was necessary! I was hoping to find a dress a bit more dressy, rather than one as casual as this skater dress, but I'm still super happy with this, which I got in Westfield a few weeks back. The print and colour is perfect for summer! Alice was also super impressed with her bargain playsuit from Primark so I feel it's necessary to brag about it in this post! Only £8!

My mums friend also made me some stunning cupcakes, which are just too pretty to eat! They seemed to go down a treat though, so much easier than a big birthday cake! If you're interested in her company you can find her facebook here and take a look at all the other amazing designs she does!

Finally some photos of all my amazing friends, aren't they all gorgeous?! I feel super lucky to have such brilliant people in my life!

Salute

Kimono & Cami - New Look // Skirt - H&M // Bag, Necklace & Heels - Primark

Last week my friend Alex threw a party to celebrate her birthday and end of exams! I had no party dresses left in my wardrobe so ended up going for a simple outfit and accessorized it with a more statement necklace from primark. It has the prettiest pastel colours. I'm also loving this kimono at the moment, I've found so many kimono's are so expensive when they're not that much, but this was just £20 so a bit of a steal really!

Black and White

Crop Top* - OASAP // Jeans - Topshop // Sandals - New Look

Every girl needs a pair of white jeans in their life this summer. They're ridiculously risky but I just love them. I really like the simplicity and monochrome of this look, but I'm looking forward to styling these jeans with some more bold colours! How would you style white jeans?

Summer Essentials: A Day at the Races

Wednesday, 11 June 2014

Multiway Bra* - Marks & Spencer // Dress* - ChiChi // Clutch - Primark // Wedges - H&M // Primer - Superdrug // Stila Eyeshadow Palette* - Marks & Spencer // Lip Liner* - Marks & Spencer // Lipstick - Bourjous @ Superdrug // Fake tan - Make Believe

Today, after being contacted by M&S, I will be doing a Summer Essentials list for one of many summer occasions - a day at the races! A few summers ago I went to the races, although too young to enjoy everything the races are about, I still really enjoyed the day and I definitely learnt a few things about do's and don'ts! First and foremost, to go with your classy dress, you need a Multiway Bra*. Nobody likes bra straps hanging out now do they?! Multiway bras are ideal, you can change over the straps to fit any style dress you have, and I think every girl needs one in their wardrobe! If that doesn't take you fancy, there are many other bras here. Now for the heels, stilettos are a big no no. You will most probably sink in the grass and you're even more likely to fall over flat on your bottom at least once, especially with the influence of alcohol! Wedges are a much safer bet. Then a clutch is required to complete the look! Now, to go with the gorgeous look, you need a summery make-up look! Firstly, a primer is essential to keep the make-up put throughout the most likely humid day! The Stila Eyeshadow Palette* is the perfect palette with some gorgeous bronzey shades which can be darkened up for a more dramatic smoky eye. And to finish the make-up look, I feel a red lip is totally necessary. Use a bold red lipstick and a Lip Liner* to keep the lippy on for an extra long time. My last essential is some fake tan, a gorgeous glow will definitely complete the look. Just be careful not to go patchy - get a spray tan if you're unsure!

What are your summer essentials for a day at the races?

Sunflower

Monday, 9 June 2014

Shorts* - OASAP // Crop Top - ASOS // Sandals - Next

When I saw American Apparel bring in these sunflower shorts my heart sung with joy.. until I saw the price tag. But do not panic my friend, OASAP have them for just a fraction of the price! They are the cutest little shorts, perfect for summer, and I can't see how these are any different to AA's pair. I'm super excited to get a good wear out of these over the next few months.

Weekly Want

Saturday, 7 June 2014

This weeks weekly want is this gorgeous cold shoulder dress from Motel. I loved last years cold shoulder trend and I know I'll still be wearing it this season. It's a real casual dress and the colour is just stunning. What do you think?

Bad Girl

Tee* - OASAP // Jeans & Flats - Topshop

I've finally finished exams! I am revision free for the next 3 months and I cannot wait to party, rave and sleep! I've got lots planned over summer, and although I have to go back to sixth form to start studying A2 next week, I'm looking forward to lots of memories being made in the sun! This is what I wore for my last exam, hence the tee and comfort vibe. I'm pretty sure I'd live in baggy tee's for the rest of my life if it was deemed acceptable!

Mini Birthday Haul

Saturday, 31 May 2014

Last Friday (23rd) was my 17th Birthday and I got a few bits which I thought I'd share with you all. As I grow older I find I end up asking for money a lot more which of course unfortunately means less unwrapping (boo!). There's always that bit of excitement and mystery with unwrapping presents! Anyway, seeing as it was my 17th my main present was driving lessons, I even had one on the day, and I didn't crash, which is a massive success in my eyes. I also got a few bits of clothing including a pretty blue cropped lace top and a gooorgeous pair of white joni jeans, and if you know me, you'll know I adore joni jeans, I practically live in them! I also got a few bits of underwear and pajamas but they weren't so pretty to photograph! I also got a beautiful pink purse from River Island after having enough of my old one and feeling like a change. As always, I got some more Barry M nail varnish to add to my ridiculous collection, I feel as if I may have to have some therapy for my addiction soon. And finally, I got two books and a the Catching Fire DVD. I don't tend to read much in my own time, but when on holiday I become a giant bookworm. My mum got me a John Green book after I enjoyed The Fault In Our Stars, as well as one by Sophie McKenzie, my all time favourite author. I'm not normally a film person but I became obsessed with The Hunger Games after loving the book trilogy I ended up seeing the first film in the cinemas twice I loved it so much!

Seeing as my birthday was slap bang in the middle of exam season, I am celebrating in a few weeks with a party with all my girlfriends, so I am VERY excited to get out and spend that money I got on a brand new pair of heels and new outfit, and maybe even some cheeky make-up too!

Wishlist: Co-ord dreaming

Wednesday, 28 May 2014

L-R: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6
The idea of co-ords has, as expected, grown on me and I am now practically drooling over the many co-ords I am finding online. The way I look at it is that a co-ord is basically 3 outfits, and is therefore 100% worth emptying your bank account for. You of course get the majorly easy outfit where the only decision is what shoes to wear, then you have the top half of the co-ord for another look, and the bottom half of the co-ord for yet another outfit. Totally justified, right?

Weekly Want

Tuesday, 27 May 2014

Hello new blog series! Ok, so seeing as my exams will soon be over and both my social life and free time will return, I thought why not do a new series for my blog. The idea is that every week I will be posting a new in piece which I am lusting for!

This week I am drooling over this Palm print Bandeau Skort Playsuit. I love the shape of this, especially the neckline! Wack on some wedges and some big sunnies and it's the perfect summer party outfit!

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleanser Review

Saturday, 24 May 2014

Firstly, apologies for the lack of posts, I didn't quite manage to schedule enough to last the whole of my exam period, but the good news is I only have one more exam left which is next Monday and I'm taking a trip to Westfield to celebrate the day after! Nothing like a bit of retail therapy hey?!

Last week I received the Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleanser* from Escentual. I always love trying out new skincare products and this one certainly didn't disappoint. The product is of a very liquidy gel consistency which you apply to a wet face to create a lather. It's actually aimed at more oily skin and those who get a lot of blemishes like myself so probably not ideal for those with dry skin.

I've never heard of the bran Eucerin before so was keen to try it out. After using this every morning and night for just over a week, although it's not a long period of time, I can already see the results it's having on my skin. With exam stress and hormones I've had a lot of breakouts recently but this has definitely kept them at bay and helped get rid of the others at a much greater speed than if they were left untreated. I'm excited to keep using it and see the long-term effect it has!

SKIRT - PRIMARK // BLOUSE* - OASAP // SHOES - TOPSHOP

Primark.. you've done it again. I found this beautiful skirt when I was in Nottingham and almost cried with happiness (slight exaggeration). It's a faux-leather skirt in a pale blue shade which is a tight fit and is perfect for spring. At only £10 it was a no-brainer!

Barry M Silk Review

Friday, 2 May 2014

And the obsessions continues.. If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know that I am well and truly obsessed with Barry M and their nail varnish range, I buy almost every single collections and don't be fooled, the silk collection was no different.

I got the whole collection apart from one colour - Truffle, which I felt I just didn't particularly like nore did I feel it would suit me. The shades I did get were Blossom - a gorgeous pastel pink, Heather - a light purple shade, Pearl - perfectly named as it is literally pearl colour, a shimmery white, Meadow - a pretty pastel light green, and finally Mist - a gorgeous sky blue shade. Each polish has a silk effect to them, which gives off a slight shimmer/shine.

The application of the polishes, as always with Barry M, are very easy, I prefer to use two coats whenever I paint my nails, although one will do fine for all, other than Pearl, which due to it's lighter colour, can come off a bit sheer at times. The lasting power is also similar to Barry M's other nail varnishes, with a top coat they can last a solid 5 days, give or take a few days depending on what you do! My favourite shade has to be Blossom as I haven't stopped wearing it since, it's the perfect girly shade. I feel the collection has Spring/Summer written all over it and was released at just the right time, and with each bottle retailing at £3.99 it's a win win situation!

Pros:
  • cheap
  • perfect for spring/summer
  • good lasting power
Cons:
  • sometimes requires a few coats

DRESS - MISSGUIDED // SHOES - TOPSHOP

I adore these cute little shift dresses with the collar at the moment. They're easy to wear and I love the floral print of this one. My study leave starts at the end of next week and my exams begin the week later so I'm feeling pretty nervous at the moment and have my head down working hard! I'm really excited to finish my exams in June and hopefully spend some more time on my blog. I really want to get the photography right and at some point are hoping to get a domain, change up my design and (maybe) rename as lucycole.com/co.uk are taken, help me out guys?! Do you have any ideas for a blog name?

SKIRT - NEW LOOK // BLOUSE* - OASAP // JACKET - PRIMARK // SANDALS - NEW LOOK

I was in shock when I found this gorgeous New Look skirt in the ASOS sale recently.. how could something as beautiful as this not sell out instantly?! The pink colour is so pretty and perfect for spring and I adore the shape too. I also bought these sandals from Asos in the same purchase, I am in love with the chunky sandal trend at the moment and was over the moon when I found a pair that fitted my annoyingly skinny feet.

Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Review

Friday, 18 April 2014

This product hit the shops and blogosphere a month or two back and I've finally got round to reviewing it. Primers are definitely becoming a lot more common in the drugstore make-up range and the Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser became all the rage when it was released. I resisted for a while, before finally caving in! It claims to 'instantly blur the look of pores, without clogging them and smooth and refine the skin'. 've read that this is a dupe for the Smashbox Photofinish Primer, so if you fancy giving a cheaper version a go first, maybe you should give this a go!

The packing is small and quite pretty, definitely something which would attract teenagers like myself or younger, and you get 22ml per tube. The product itself is a clear gel with a thick consistency which glides very well onto the skin. I only tend to use it along my nose/cheek in order to cover my pores. It doesn't feel greasy and smooths the skin beautifully. On application, it does blur the skin slightly, although I found it didn't really cover my pores when I applied my foundation. I have fairly oily skin and find silicon based primers don't always work as well which could be why this didn't have much of an effect on me. It retails at a price of £7.99, which is fair, however I wont be repurchasing due to it not doing a lot for me!

Pros:

  • pretty packaging
  • leaves skin feeling smooth
  • possibly a cheap dupe of high-end product

Cons:

  • no effect on my pores

I got you

JACKET & TOP - ASOS // SKIRT - H&M // SHOES- OFFICE // BAG* - OASAP

I feel half tom-boy half girly in this look and I love it. Sometimes I think it's nice to go a bit grungy and swap up your usual style. I am so in love with this skirt from H&M. I've got to be honest, it definitely is a bit small for me but I didn't have the strength to send it back as it was then sold out.. I've managed to get a few wears out of it! Also how cute is this rucksack satchel I got from Oasap?! It's got a vintage feel to it and I know I'll be reaching for it a lot in the Summer.

Instagram Update #17

Friday, 11 April 2014

my best friend // sunshine // ootn
pretending i'm healthy // it's all real now // love my anna
geography trip // seeing my favourite boys // my beautiful mummy
woops // saying goodbye to these 5 losers was the hardest thing :( // rainbow

I haven't done an instagram update in aaaaages! These past few months have been full of emotions. I've felt super happy recently but also very sad. On Thursday I saw The Wanted perform at the O2 arena for the last time and on Tuesday I met and saw them in Nottingham for their last ever UK gig before they split. I can honestly say I have never cried so much in one night! The Wanted have been a massive part of my life for 4 years and saying goodbye to them was horrible. I've now got to focus on my revision as exams start next month and I am officially pooing it. I hope my motivation stays with me for the next 2 months so I can ace the exams!
